Hi,
My query is on the following question from sample paper #5.

The question is
"14. How many test cases are necessary to cover all the possible sequences of statements (paths) for the following program fragment? Assume that the two conditions are independent of each other : -

if (Condition 1)

then statement 1

if (Condition 2)

then statement 3

fi"

As Condition 1 and Condition 2 are independent of each other, I can have two test cases only.
First test case (both conditons are true)
statement 1 and statement 3
Second test case (both conditions are false).
Statement 2 alone.

It was given that the answer is 4 test cases.

Could you please explain me how did you arrive at this answer.

I presume this question is similar to the example "Coffee and Cream" given by you.

You are right.Correct answer is 2 test cases..and the answer provided for ques.14 is the same.

= 4 testcases

so can someone tell me which the correct answer is as i think it s 4 test cases while the answer qiven in the answer sheet is 2 test cases is this wrong

Hi,

from my point of view, the current answer is 4 test cases.
As Condition 1 and Condition 2 are independent of each other, you have four options to combine the Conditions:
C1 = true & C2 = true
C1 = false & C2 = true
C1 = true & C2 = false
C1 = false & C2 = false

From this it follows that you can have four paths(=test case) through the graph

The number of testcases in Q14 is two as the conditions are independant. You only need to test all combinations if they are not independant!
